Scope

Low-temperature forgings (LF1, LF2, LF3, LF6) — impact-tested.

Key requirements (6)

  • Carbon and low-alloy steel forgings, requiring notch toughness testing for piping.
  • Grade LF2: most common — for service down to −46 °C (−50 °F).
  • Charpy impact: 27 J avg / 21 J single at test temperature.
  • PWHT required for thicknesses > 38 mm.
  • Used for flanges, fittings, valve bodies in low-temperature process service.
  • Replaces A105 where MDMT < −29 °C.
