Scope
Low-temperature forgings (LF1, LF2, LF3, LF6) — impact-tested.
Key requirements (6)
- Carbon and low-alloy steel forgings, requiring notch toughness testing for piping.
- Grade LF2: most common — for service down to −46 °C (−50 °F).
- Charpy impact: 27 J avg / 21 J single at test temperature.
- PWHT required for thicknesses > 38 mm.
- Used for flanges, fittings, valve bodies in low-temperature process service.
- Replaces A105 where MDMT < −29 °C.
