Scope
Pre-formed mineral fiber pipe insulation up to about 650 °C surface temperature.
Key requirements (6)
- Mineral fiber pipe insulation (rock wool, glass wool).
- Service temperature classes: Class 1 (≤ 230 °C), Class 2 (≤ 450 °C), Class 3 (≤ 540 °C), Class 4 (≤ 650 °C).
- Thermal conductivity: ~0.038 W/m·K at 24 °C.
- Density: 70–160 kg/m³ depending on grade.
- Combined with metallic jacketing for outdoor service.
- Not water-resistant — vapor barrier required for cold service.
